Small Animal Boarding

As well as looking after scales and feathers we are also happy to look after small furry mammals. We have a number of hutches available for rabbits and guinea pigs and a limited number of enclosures suitable for mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, degus and chinchillas. We understand that pets are an important part of family life and we dedicate time to even the smallest of creatures. For rabbits and guinea pigs we have outside runs to enable them to benefit from fresh air when weather permits and return them to their inside quarters during the night. We are also aware that small mammals are seen as prey by a number of our other reptilian residents so we have a separate dedicated housing area for our mammals and birds to ensure all animals feel safe and unthreatened.

As with all our animals we clean enclosures daily and provide specially formulated food suitable for the animals along with fresh fruit and vegetables with your recommendation. We provide suitable stimuli in all our enclosures. For small rodents we recommend that you provide their normal enclosure, if small enough to transport, or some features from this where possible to prevent distress. Remember to transport your animal in a separate secure container to prevent injury. Enclosures can be heated if required and we are happy to discuss individual requirements prior to boarding your animal.

PLEASE NOTE ALL RABBITS MUST BE VACCINATED FOR MYXOMATOSIS!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

MiceWhat happens if my pet falls ill? We will contact you as soon as we are concerned with your animal to confirm whether you are happy with us to transport your pet to the vets. If we cannot contact you we will rely on the advice of your emergency home contact so please make them aware of any actions you may wish to undertake. You will be responsible for any vet bills upon your return.

What happens if our flights home are cancelled? We appreciate that things can hinder arrangements, however, if we are informed prior to the collection date we will try to accommodate longer stays where possible and charge this at our normal rate. If we are not informed prior to the collection date then any further stay in our care may be charged at an inflated cost. Please note that if animals are not collected within 10 days of the arranged date without notice or reason then we will assume the animals are abandoned and assume ownership.
